Multi-Unit Housing Provisions in Their Ordinance

Below is a brief summary of requirements found in Marin communities that currently have a multi-unit housing smoke-free ordinance in effect.

Novato Ordinance 7-3

Ordinance applies to buildings with 10 or more units.

A minimum of 50% of units must be designated as smoke-free.

Includes apartments, condominiums, townhomes and assisted living complexes, among others.

Larkspur Ordinance 6.16

Ordinance applies to building with 2 or more units.

A minimum of 80% of units must be designated as smoke-free.

Includes apartments, condominiums, townhomes, and assisted living complexes among others.

 

Fairfax Ordinance 8.44

Ordinance applies to building with 4 or more units.

A minimum of 75% of units must be designated as smoke-free.

Includes apartments and assisted living complexes, among others.

Tiburon Ordinance 531 N.S.

Ordinance applies to building with 4 or more units.

100% of units must be designated as smoke-free as of July 14, 2014.
